Yeastar
Music On Hold and greetings for Yeastar
Choose Yeastar in the studio and your download comes out ready for it. Yeastar keeps hold music and spoken prompts in separate places, which is where most of the confusion starts.
The file
What Yeastar needs
The file your system expects, prepared for you. There is nothing to convert, and no setting for you to work out.
Yeastar Ready
Upload this straight into your Yeastar system.
Choose Yeastar in the studio and the file your system expects is prepared for you, ready to upload as it is.
Every purchase also includes an MP3 you can play on any device to check it or send it around your team, plus the full-quality original in case someone ever asks for it. Downloads are unlimited.
Music On Hold is your phone system name for the slot that plays while a caller waits. Recordings are produced voice only while the music library is closed, and a spoken recording fills that slot just as well — the levels, the timing and a clean start and finish are still handled for you.
Where it goes
Getting the file onto your system
Choose Yeastar in the studio, then take the download to your system.
- Sign in to your Yeastar PBX web interface.
- Go to Settings, then PBX, then Voice Prompts.
- Upload the Yeastar Ready file, then select it where you need it.
If the screens do not match
Yeastar has sold several generations of PBX and the menu wording differs between them and between firmware releases. If the headings do not match what you see, look for the section that holds voice prompts, then the one that holds hold music — they are usually near each other.
What usually goes wrong
The things that catch people out on Yeastar
Almost every one of these ends with somebody deciding the file is faulty when it is not. They are worth two minutes before you start.
Hold music and prompts are not the same list
A greeting, a menu and a voicemail message are prompts. What plays while a caller waits is hold music, and on Yeastar that is usually a list the system plays through rather than a single prompt. A recording loaded as a prompt will not start playing on hold by itself.
The list still contains the default track
If your recording is added to a hold music list that already has the factory music in it, callers get whichever comes up. Take the default out of the list if you want yours to be the only thing heard.
The system has not been told to apply the change
Yeastar holds some changes until they are applied or saved at the top of the screen. If nothing has changed on the line, check there is no pending change waiting.
A cloud PBX run by your provider
If your Yeastar sits in a cloud run by your provider rather than in your comms cupboard, you may have a limited login or none. Send them the file and say whether it is for hold music or for a greeting.
