If you would rather it worked from your own details, give it your web address and it will read your site for your hours, services and location before drafting. Can I use a script I already have?

Yes. Paste it into the editor and it is ready to record as it stands. The assistant is there if you want it — to shorten a line, change the tone, or split a long message into shorter ones with music between them — but nothing has to go through it.

How long does it take?

Accepted Answer

Most people are finished in under ten minutes. Writing the script is the slow part, and the assistant will draft it for you if you would rather start from something. Your preview is ready about a minute after you ask for it, and the complete recording is produced within a few minutes of payment.

Do I need to record anything myself?

No. There is no microphone involved and nothing to upload. You type the words, choose the voice that reads them, and the recording is produced for you.

No. You can go from a blank page to a preview without signing up. An email address is asked for at checkout so your receipt and your downloads can reach you.

How many voices are there, and how do I choose one?

12 Australian voices — 6 female and 6 male. Every one is generated by AI, not a recording of a voice actor. Each is described by how it sounds and the sort of business it suits. In the studio every voice plays the same short demo line, so you are comparing like with like, and you can change your mind as often as you like before you pay.

Are these recordings of real people?

No. The voices are generated by AI, in an Australian accent. Each one is described by how it sounds and what it suits, and you hear the voice you chose reading your own words in the preview before you decide.

What if the voice says our business name wrong?

Accepted Answer

Select the word in your script and tell us how it sounds, written the way you would explain it to a new receptionist — Fotias is said FOH-tee-us. Take another preview and check it. Business names, surnames and suburbs are the usual culprits, and they are worth listening for before you pay.

What about the music?

Accepted Answer

The library is not open yet, so recordings are produced with the voice on its own. That is a normal way to run a phone line — plenty of businesses prefer their messages plain, and a menu or a voicemail greeting is usually better without anything behind it. Everything else is unchanged: the levels, the timing and the file your phone system needs are all still set for you.

Can I have no music at all?

Yes. Voice on its own is a proper choice in the studio rather than a setting to hunt for, and for a menu or a voicemail message it is usually the better one — those two are offered without music, because a caller following options needs nothing competing with them.

Can I change how loud the music is?

Accepted Answer

Yes, though the levels are set for you and are a sensible starting point. You can make the music quieter or louder, choose how long it plays before the first message, and set how long it sits between messages. The music softens automatically while the voice is speaking so the words stay clear, and you can turn that off if you would rather it did not.

What do I get?

A file ready to upload to your phone system, an MP3 you can play on any device to check it or share it with your team, and the full-quality original in case anyone ever asks for it. Downloads are unlimited.

Will it work with my phone system?

Tell us what you use — 3CX, Yeastar, Grandstream, or Other if you are not sure — and you get a file prepared to upload straight into it. If your system will not take it, email us and we will sort it out with you.

Who puts the file on the phone system?

Accepted Answer

You can, and the steps for your system are listed beside the download. If your phone provider or IT company looks after the system, send them the file and they will load it. If something will not accept it, email us and we will work it out with you.

Does the on-hold recording loop?

Accepted Answer

Yes. A Music On Hold production is built to loop: it starts and finishes cleanly so the join does not click or jump, and your phone system repeats it for as long as someone is waiting. A greeting, an after-hours message or a voicemail message plays once instead.

How long should the recording be?

A Music On Hold production usually runs between one and three minutes before it loops. A greeting, an after-hours message or a voicemail message is usually under thirty seconds. As you write, the studio shows the word count and how long the finished recording will run at a comfortable telephone reading pace, so you can see where you are up to.

Can I download the files again later?

Yes, as often as you like. What you have bought is never put behind a sign-in, so your recording stays reachable from the page you bought it on. Signing in with an emailed link keeps every recording in one place and lets you reach them from another computer.

Can I hear it before I pay?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Before you pay anything you get a five-second personalised preview: your words in the voice you picked, mixed the way the finished recording will be. The complete recording is produced after purchase and is yours to download from then on.

What does it cost?

A one-off payment. Prices start at A$49, and what you pay depends on whether you are making a single message or a complete on-hold production. Prices are shown in Australian dollars (AUD) and include GST. The pricing page sets out each option and what is included.

Is it a subscription?

No. You pay once for the recording you make. There is no monthly fee and nothing to cancel.

How do I pay, and is my card safe?

Card payment is handled by Stripe on their own secure page, so your card details never reach us. Stripe confirms the payment, and that confirmation is the only thing that starts your full recording. An email address is asked for at checkout so your receipt and your downloads can reach you.

Can I change it later?

Accepted Answer

Change the script and the voice as often as you like before you pay, and take a new preview each time. After purchase, the recording you bought stays available to download. When your hours or services change, a new version is a new recording.

What if something is not right after I have paid?

Email support@onholdmusic.ai and tell us what happened. If the recording did not come out the way it should have, we will sort it out with you. On the rare occasion a recording fails to produce after payment, the page offers to run it again and you are not charged a second time.
